  NIGHTLIFE
Peru is a very eventful place, where the night comes alive in all the pubs and discos, strewn across the city. Peru is not a very expensive place and hence you can safely indulge in the night life, without having to dig deep into your pocket. Most of the cities of Peru have a wide variety of night life entertainment. Information about places of interest can be obtained where you are staying. The night clubs offer a large variety of music like salsa, cumbia, samba, jazz, trendy pop and electronic. There are more sedate clubs where you can lounge and enjoy a drink with your friends. No matter what your taste, the Peru will have something to offer you.

Lima:
Lima offers a great variety of music, anything from salsa to Argentinean rock, passing through electronic. Things don't really get going until late, and Lima's nightlife is most vibrant at the weekends. The heart of the city's nightlife is focused in Miraflores, San Isidro and Barranco. The live music bars and clubs around the Parque Kennedy and bars and discos in the Larcomar shopping mall dominate Miraflores' nightlife, while San Isidro offers a more sophisticated scene. In Miraflores, Santa Sede is the regular haunt of the young and bohemian, playing a pleasing mix of pop and salsa. Also lively clubs include Aura and Gotica, in Larcomar, which plays up-to-date trance, techno and hip hops as well as more mainstream music are a good option. The perennial hotspot is Barranco, which bursts into life on Thursday night and carries on until the early hours of Monday morning. Here we recommend trendy La Noche, just off the main square in Barranco, is one of the most popular nightspots in Lima.

Cusco:
Cusco is a lively city where numerous bars, clubs and other venues compete aggressively for tourists, with touts swarming around the Plaza de Armas, San Blas or Plaza Regocijo handing out flyers and offering free drinks as incentive to visit. Recommended bars include long-standing favorite The Cross Keys, which has the feel of a London pub, plays good music and serves decent food; and Fallen Angel, a funky, outlandish cocktail bar that doubles as a great restaurant. Lively clubs include Mama Africa and Extreme, which plays up-to-date trance, reggae, techno, hip hop, rock as well as more mainstream music.

Trujillo:
Trujillo is pretty quiet except on weekends, when it springs to life. A few nightclubs and peñas are clustered in downtown, but most of the hopping discos that go all night are very local and young affairs, on the outskirts of the city. Las Tinajas, with a balcony overlooking the Plaza de Armas, is a pretty chic and popular bar with a downstairs disco, good for midweek drinks. On weekends, it features live rock and pop. Luna Rota is an all-in-one complex with a thumping disco for teenagers, a pub, and a casino for slightly more mature folks.

Arequipa:
Arequipa has a pretty hopping nightlife in the old quarter, with plenty of bars, restaurants, and discos catering to both tourists and locals. Sunday through Wednesday is usually pretty quiet, with things heating up beginning on Thursday night. Calles San Francisco and Zela are the main hot spots, while there are also a number of bars along Pasaje Catedral. As for pubs and bars, Siwara, is a great-looking beer tavern. Another good spot for a drink is Montreál Le Café Art, which features an eclectic variety of live music. For a little more action, check out Forum Rock Café a huge place that is equal parts restaurant, bar, disco, and concert hall.

Huaraz:
It's not hard to find a nightspot in Huaraz. With all the tourists gearing up for or celebrating the completion of trekking expeditions, the place hops in high season. El Tambo is the most happening disco in town. Other bars worth dropping in on include the intimate Las Kenas, which features live and recorded (often Andean) music and good pisco sours; La Cueva del Oso, a lively peña with good music and dancing; and the laid-back Monttrek Pub.

Iquitos:
More locals than tourist usually make it to the coolest spot in Iquitos. Along the malecón are a couple of lively bars with good views of the river. a good place for sharing a pitcher of sangria and loud rock 'n' roll, the Arandú Bar and the Yellow Rose of Texas. Locals hang out at Noa-Noa,  a disco and rock bar near the Plaza de Armas.

Puno:
Though the city is the country's capital of folklore, there's not a whole lot happening in Puno after dark. Nightlife is pretty much confined to a single street, consisting of a handful of bars and discos strung along Jr. Lima. Kamizaraky Rock Pub, Positive Vibrations and Apu Salkantay, are among the bars worth a stop for some decent music and drinks.
