Day 01:
... / LIMA
Upon arrival you may choose, depending on your arriving time, between staying at the airport’s hotel and rest to board your early flight or being transfer to an hotel in the cosmopolitan Miraflores area of Lima, where, if the hour permits it, you may just walk around Miraflores, which is known for its shopping areas, restaurants, gardens, flower-filled parks and beaches. Overnight in Lima.
Day 02:
LIMA /CUSCO
After breakfast, transfer to the airport to board your flight to Cusco. Upon arrival, reception and transfer to selected hotel. You may find the altitude a little hard to handle at first so we recommend the rest of the morning to rest and acclimatize. In the afternoon, we suggest to just sit and sip a coca tea in one of the cafes on the balconies overlooking the Plaza de Armas; stroll through the bustling Plaza de Armas in the heart of Cusco; or visit the San Blas district, with its narrow and very picturesque streets, which is known as the artists distinct and is full of workshops and craft shops as well as some good cafes and restaurants. At night we recommend visiting any restaurant or bar near the Main Square and enjoy the night atmosphere trying the delicious Peruvian cuisine with and a Pisco Sour, while listening to traditional Inca music. Overnight in Cusco.
Day 03:
CUSCO / COCK OF THE ROCK LODGE
After the breakfast, early in the morning, you will start your unique adventure driving through the spectacular eastern ranges of the Andes, passing through traditional Quechua communities, beautiful snow-peaks and small Andean farmsteads to the village of Paucartambo. After a brief visit to this picturesque village you will ascend to the last pass overlooking the Amazon Basin and begin the breath taking descent from 3,500 to 1,600 meter to your comfortable lodge in the laden Cloud Forest. On the way you will pass through beautiful cascading waterfalls and observe multicolored birds. Late afternoon arrival to the lodge. Overnight at Cock-of-the-Rock Lodge.
Day 04:
COCK OF THE ROCK LODGE / AMAZONIA LODGE
Early morning wake up for a short walk to a nearby viewing platform for the Andean Cock of the Rock's mating dance, or lek, where the strange and beautiful Cocks of the Rock display at dawn. This is a wonderful sight, as the bright red-orange males dance and sing, attempting to attract the burgundy colored females. After visiting this lek you will return to the lodge for a leisurely breakfast. After breakfast you may enjoy a secluded nature walk on a short trail in search of birds and monkeys from the Manu Cloud Forest. Then you will enjoy a three hours drive to Atalaya, a tiny port where the Piñipiñi River meets the Alto Madre de Dios, where you will board a motor boat for an hour and a half ride to Amazonia Lodge. During normal river conditions you will arrive in time for exploration and wildlife viewing along one of its many forest trails. Overnight at Amazonia Lodge.
Day 05:
AMAZONIA LODGE / MANU WILDLIFE CENTER
After breakfast, early in the morning, you will enjoy a morning hike on the lodge trails searching for other bird species, before leaving on a motor boat for Manu Wildlife Center. On the way you will admire the beauty of Peru`s south jungle and make a two brief stops, first at the Piro’s native village and then at Boca Manu village. After a boat journey of approximately 6 hours, we arrive at Manu Wildlife Center, one of the world’s top ten wildlife lodges. Upon arrival, after a short briefing, you will settle into your beautiful cabaña for a refreshing siesta. In the afternoon, after lunch, you will explore some of the clean forest trails that surround the lodge, having an excellent chance to encounter a unique fauna. After dinner, a night hike through the forest trails will take you to the Amazon’s largest known tapir clay lick. Overnight at Manu Wildlife Center.
Day 06:
MANU WILDLIFE CENTER
After an early breakfast, a motorized boat ride will take you to the parrots and macaws large clay lick. A catamaran (in rainy season) allows visitors to get closer for an excellent view of these colorful animals. In the afternoon, after lunch, you will visit one of the two oxbow lakes found in the area. These lakes have a large variety of wildlife. After dinner, you will have another opportunity to visit the tapir clay lick. Overnight at Manu Wildlife Center.
Day 07:
MANU WILDLIFE CENTER
After an early breakfast, you will explore the forest trails and observe the fruit trees that sustain large monkey communities as well as numerous species of birds. You will have another opportunity to visit one of the two oxbow lakes found in the area. After lunch, further opportunity to explore more of the forest in the vicinity of the lodge. It is also possible to spend time behind special blinds to observe and perhaps photograph the brilliantly colored dancing birds called Manakins. After dinner, you will enjoy your last visit to the tapir clay lick. Overnight at the Manu Wildlife Center.
Day 08:
MANU WILDLIFE CENTER / BOCA MANU / CUSCO / LIMA / ...
After an early breakfast, a motor boat ride will take you to Boca Manu air stripe to board your departure flight to Cusco, then to Lima and finally your international connection.
