Day 01:
... / LIMA
Upon arrival you may choose, depending on your arriving time, between staying at the airport’s hotel and rest to board your early flight or being transfer to an hotel in the cosmopolitan Miraflores area of Lima, where, if the hour permits it, you may just walk around Miraflores, which is known for its shopping areas, restaurants, gardens, flower-filled parks and beaches. Overnight in Lima.
Day 02:
LIMA / CHICLAYO
After breakfast, at the appointed time, trasfer to the airport to board your flight to Chiclayo. Upon arrival, reception and transfer to selected hotel in Chiclayo. At the appointed time, you will enjoy an excursion to the Archaeological Complex of Tucume or Valley of the Pyramids, an imposing pre-Inca complex of 26 mud brick pyramids. Then you will continue with a guided visit to the Royal Tombs of Sipan Museum, one of the best in the world, where you can find all the information and archaeological testimonies of the Mochicas as well as a replica of Lord of Sipan’s tomb. In the afternoon, you will enjoy an excursion to the magnificent mud-brick Necropolis of Huaca Rajada, a Mochica funeral archaeological complex, where the world-famous tomb of the Lord of Sipan was discovered in 1980's. Return to your hotel. Overnight in Chiclayo.
Day 03:
CHICLAYO / CHACHAPOYAS
After breakfast, at the appointed time, departure by private car, van or minibus to Chachapoyas. On the way you will cross 4 different regions, arriving in the afternoon to selected hotel in Chachapoyas. Overnight in Chachapoyas.
Day 04:
CHACHAPOYAS / KUELAP / CHACHAPOYAS
After breakfast you will enjoy a fascinating full day guided excursion to Kuelap, a spectacular pre-Inca fortress hidden atop a precipitous mountain at an altitude of 3,080 meters. Although Kuelap was discovered sixty years before Machu Picchu, it is not as well-known to the outside world. Nevertheless recent amazing discoveries in nearby areas that relate to Kuelap and to its history have captured the attention of archaeologists, international magazines and film companies. After enjoying a box Lunch, you will start your return trip to the hostel. On the way you will admire the burial towers of Macro. Overnight in Chachapoyas.
Day 05:
CHACHAPOYAS / REVASH / LEYMEBAMBA
After breakfast you will enjoy a guided excursion by horse to the Archeological Complex of Revash, colorful funeral buildings perched on a ledge up high on a Cliff overlooking the valley near the town of Santo Tomas. The tombs walls at Revash are decorated with geometric designs and figures of camelids. After enjoying a box lunch, you will continue with the excursion to the town of Leymebamba, where you will enjoy a guided visit to Centro Mallqui Museum that hosts an amazing collection of well-preserved pre-inca mummies discovered in the Laguna de los Condores. After the excursion, transfer to selected hostel in Leymebamba. Overnight in Leymebamba.
Day 06:
LEYMEBAMBA / CAJAMARCA
After breakfast, at the appointed time, transfer to Cajamarca. On the way you will cross two mountain ranges and several different habitats, such as the cloud forest, agricultural lands, desert-like areas and the Marañon Canyon, one of the deepest in South America. Without doubt on this journey you will admire one of the most spectacular sceneries within Peru. Afternoon arrival to Cajamarca. Overnight in Cajamarca.
Day 07:
CAJAMARCA
After breakfast, at the appointed time, you will you will enjoy a guided excursion to the famous Graveyard of Otuzco, popularly known as the Ventanillas de Otuzco, a pre-Inca burial site where hundreds of crypts in the shape of small windows are carved into volcanic rock slopes. In the afternoon, at the appointed time you will enjoy a guided excursion to Cumbemayo Archeological Complex, which is surrounded by an interesting stone forest that seems to mimic the silhouettes of pious friars (for which it is popularly called “frailones” or giant friars) and includes: the aqueduct (1000 B.C.), a unique work of hydraulic engineering, the Sanctuary; a cliff that looks like a giant human head; and the Caves, which include cave paintings and carvings. After the excursion, return to the hotel. Overnight in Cajamarca.
Day 08:
CAJAMARCA / TRUJILLO
After breakfast, at the appointed time, transfer to the station to board your bus service to Trujillo. Upon arrival, reception and transfer to selected hotel. Overnight in Trujillo.
Day 09:
TRUJILLO / LIMA / ...
After breakfast, you will enjoy a full day guided excursion (you will have to check-out before leaving in the excursion, you may leave your luggage at the hotel’s storage room) to the Moche Valley where you will admire the enormous adobe constructions built by the Mochica Culture in the 5th century, called Temple of the Sun, considered the largest adobe pyramid in Peru and the Temple of the Moon, housing an extensive burial ground and some fine polychrome murals in which their deity is often printed. After the excursion you will head to the seaside town of Huanchaco, where you will enjoy lunch while you watch the local fishermen surfing the waves in their traditional Caballitos de Totora, little reed boats used for fishing since pre Inca times. After lunch, you will enjoy a guided excursion to Chan Chan, the largest adobe archaeological complex of the world and ancient capital of the Chimu civilization (13th Century). This complex, added as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986, covers approximately 20 square kilometers being its main attraction the Temple del Arco Iris, the site museum and the Tshudi Palace. At the appointed time, transfer to the airport to board your flight to Lima and international connection.
