OVERVIEW
This spectacular region of glittering turquoise lakes and sparkling White Mountain peaks that spread along the Callejon de Huaylas, is a dazzling valley stuck between two mountain ranges, the Black and White Cordilleras, well-known by its impressive glaciers, within them the tallest peak in Peru, The Huascaran (6,768 m). Also, this area was where the Chavin Culture, matrix culture of the Peruvian civilization, develops between 1200 and 200 b.c, being its master piece Chavín de Huantar, one of Peru’s most renowned archeological monuments..

Upon arrival, reception and transfer to selected hotel. Rest of the afternoon at leisure to acclimatize. Overnight in Huaraz..

After breakfast, at the appointed time, you will enjoy a full day guided excursion to the impressive archaeological complex of Chavin de Huantar, the oldest pan-Andean civilization dating back to 2000 BC. On the way, you will admire the towns of Recuay and Catac, as well as the Querococha Lagoon and will pass the Cordillera through the Cashuish tunnel. Upon your arrival to the archaeological complex you will admire a temple full of galleries and subterranean tunnels; the famous “Cabezas Clavas”, mythical stone figures in high and low relief; and the most remarkable piece "the Lanzon Monolitico de Chavin", a granite carving 4.5 m in height. This culture was the matrix of the Peruvian civilization. After lunch, you will start your return trip to the hotel. Overnight in Huaraz..

After breakfast, at the appointed time, you will enjoy a full day guided excursion to the Huascaran National Park. One the way you will visit the towns of Carhuaz, one of the most populous in the department; Yungay, a city located at the foot of the imposing snow-covered Huascaran, a national sanctuary; Caraz, with its beautiful main square and its many of natural and architectonic sighs; it’s beautiful turquoise colored lagoons, Llanganuco, Chinancocha and Orconcocha.
