Choquequirao (from the Quechua Chuquik´iraw "Cradle of Gold"), considered as the second Machu Picchu or as her sister, is one of Peru’s recently-discovered archaeological sites. It is also considered as the last Inca refugee, which resisted per decades to the Spanish conquerors. It is located in the canyon of the Apurimac River in a strategic geographical area between Andean mountains and the edge of the jungle. Although it is difficult to access it is not impossible and above all it is a challenge and an exciting experience for those who enjoy adventure.
In this program you will enjoy a trip full of emotion and adventure across bucolic landscapes enjoying the extraordinary views of the Vicabamba Cordillera. You will descend down to the depths of the Apurímac Canyon to then ascend over three thousand meters, and finally arrive at the last refuge of the Incas, the Archaeological Compound of Choquequirao. The stonewalls that surround this old religious, political and social centre of the Inca Empire are mostly covered by weeds, which will give you the impression of being one of the first explorers reaching the site.

CUSCO / CHOQUEQUIRAO TREK (+ / - 5 hours trek)
Transfer to Cachora. Hike begins. Overnight in Chiquisqa. 
Day 04:
CHOQUEQUIRAO TREK (+ / - 7 hours trek)
Second day trek. Arrival to Choquequirao. Overnight in Sunchupata.
Day 05:
CHOQUEQUIRAO TREK (+ / - 4 hours trek)
Third trekking day. Guided Tour to Choquequirao. Overnight in Chiquisqa.
Day 06:
CHOQUEQUIRAO TREK / CUSCO (+ / - 3 hours trek)
Last trekking day. Return to Cusco. Transfer to your hotel. Overnight in Cusco.
