Arequipa, also known as The White City for its beautiful white walls made of ashlar, is one of the most beautiful and best preserved cities in Peru. The city’s downtown, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site, shows a great variety of colonial monuments. Just a few hours from the city of Arequipa is the Colca River Valley and Canyon, one of the most extraordinary destinations in the country. This valley possesses a great diversity of flora and fauna. Among the most representative specie is The Andean Condor. This canyon is one of the deepest places on the planet, reaching its highest point in the inactive volcano Mount Ampato (6,288 mts) and the lowest at the confluence of the Colca and Andamayo rivers (970 mts).
