Overview:
Suasi Island is a small private island, which hosts one of the most beautiful eco-lodges in Peru, entirely built with local materials such as stone, adobe and totora reed. Suasi is a genuine home for nature lovers where the magnificence of Lake Titicaca can be captured from every corner of the island. Suasi brings an overwhelming sense of tranquility, relaxation and peace. Moreover Suasi Island and its lodge are an important cultural and conservation centre of the Andean culture and the flora and fauna of Titicaca reserve.
Itinerary:
In the morning you will head to the Sacred Lake of The Incas to board a motor boat and visit the floating Uros Islands, a group of 40 big island-like packs of floating totora (marsh reeds), consider a unique tourist attraction in the world. Here you will appreciate how the Uros still live like their ancestors with the same customs and traditions. After the visit you will continue visiting Taquile Island, the largest island in the reserve, inhabited by Quechua-speaking natives governed by their ancient traditions, and whose main occupations are the production of ceramics and textiles. Finally you will head for Suasi Island, the only private island in the reserve. Upon arrival, checking in and having lunch, you will enjoy hiking along the island trails admiring its unique flora and fauna. Late afternoon return to your lodging for dinner. After dinner you will get a chance to admire the lake at night, observing the South firmament with a modern computerized telescope using the cosmology that Andean communities have developed during years: or you may just relax in the lodge terrace before going to bed. Next morning, after breakfast, you will have open time to participate in multiples activities offered by the lodge including; trekking, visiting protected areas to observe flora and fauna, visiting Andean farming plots, canoeing, among others. In the afternoon, after lunch, you will start your return motor boat trip to Puno. Upon arrival, reception and transfer to your hotel.
