Title: INCA TRAIL (2 Days / 1 Night)
Interest: Adventure
Destinations: Pueblo de Aguas Calientes
Trip Length: 2 Days / 1 Night

Overview:
This is the short version of the famous and surprising Inca Trail. It has been designed for those who have less time available and do not want to lose this unique expirience. You will hike for six hours, overnight in the small town of Aguas Calientes, enjoy a guided visit to the the Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu the next day; and return to Cusco in the afternoon train service.

Itinerary:
Early morning pick-up at your hotel and transfer to the station to board the morning train service to kilometer 104 of the Cusco- Machu Picchu railway. Upon arrival, and after meeting your guides, you will cross a footbridge to the Inca site of Chachabamba, after a quick visit you will start hiking, for approximately four hours, through spectacular vistas overlooking the great Sacred Valley to the enchanting site of Wiñaywayna. Here you will ascend through what is considered the largest and most beautiful site on the Inca Trail, passing its chain of ritual baths and curved terraces until joining the main trail. After a box lunch, you will continue hiking, for approximately two hours, through a steep mountainside and up narrow stairways, through a lush cloud-forest to the stone threshold of Intipunku (Sun Gate), the entrance gives a spectacular view of citadel of Machu Picchu. Once at Machu Picchu you will walk through the royal flagstone walkway, past outlying shrines and buildings and through the heart of Machu Picchu to take the bus to the small town of Aguas Calientes to register at your selected hotel and spend the night. The next morning, after breakfast, you will board a bus that will take you to the actual site of the Lost City of the Incas, the crown jewel of the Andes, to enjoy your guided tour. For hiking enthusiasts we recommend climbing Huayna Picchu for a magnificent view overlooking the site (you will need a confirmation before starting the trek). The climb to Huayna Picchu is restricted to only 400 people per day in two groups and the gates open early at 07.00 am, so if you want to do the climb it is advised to head, out early on your own, to Machu Picchu by sunrise (05.30 am). You will need to fill out a registration form and receive a pass (it’s free) at the gate. You will also need to be back at the citadel entrance before 10 am to meet your guide and enjoy your guided tour., Machu Picchu, hidden by mountains and the semi-tropical jungle, is widely considered the most spectacular scenery on the South American continent and one of the most renowned examples of Incan architecture. After the excursion, free time to walk on your own through the citadel or you may get back to Aguas Calientes for some handicraft shopping. At the appointed time, you will board the afternoon train service to Cusco. Upon arrival, reception and transfer to your hotel.
